GET TO KNOW KAT POWELL

KAT POWELL

KAT

Partner CK Hoffman Design

Interior Designer, Project Manager, Product Specialist

We are so excited to announce Kat’s official collaboration and partnership with CK Hoffman Design.  Starting this month – September 2021! – Kat’s business Design Accomplice LLC will now be part of the CK Hoffman Design umbrella, and will now be able to offer General Contracting and Construction Management services to her clients.  A WIN – WIN for us both!

I’ve known Kat for years 6 years now, we met at the Sherwin Williams store on Murray Rd., where she launched their very successful “In Home” Paint Color Consultation Program.  After SW, she joined Area Floors, a wholesale materials dealer in Lake Oswego, as Showroom Manager, and was our materials and finishes rep for over 5 yrs. Fast forward to 2020 she started her own business Design Accomplice LLC offering interior design assistance to her own clients, along with offering “support’ to the construction industry. CK Hoffman Design was one of her first clients. After 15 months of working together, it became apparent that we should be “stronger together” which is why we formalized our collaboration this month.

I couldn’t be more excited or delighted!

Welcome Kat and here’s to the future –

Hugs, Caryl

Here’s a little bit more about Kat!

What’s the one thing you’ve learned about yourself during this time of pandemic?

 A:

That I can actually go through several months without ever dining out!  I really embraced that aspect of the pandemic and my budget benefited greatly!

What’s the one trait you consider essential to your success?

A: I consider myself genuinely interested in the story of others.  I would rather do business with someone I’ve made a personal connection with so I try to surround myself by others that prescribe to that same sentiment.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you.

A: Not everyone knows that for three months I toured the US two full times performing with an Industrial Rock band.  I managed the tour but also played keyboards every night.  It was an experience that I’m extremely grateful for!

Who is one person, alive or dead, you’d most like to have dinner with:

A: Believe it or not I’ve thought about this question.  One of my favorite singers is Sia.  Not only do I love the sound of her voice, but I admire what a great songwriter she is.  She writes music for other performers and collaborates with many other musicians.  You can’t begin to know how excited I was to find out she sang and wrote a new song for the 2014 Annie movie!

What advice to you have for women entrepreneurs who are looking to start a business:

A:  Dream BIG!  I am a big fan of SMART goal setting~ map out what you want your life to look like and work backwards to determine the steps needed to achieve your dream.  I would also suggest finding mentors along the way.  Other women will hold you up and offer advice to live by!  Also, celebrate your small wins along the way!!  Be proud you are a strong, female entrepreneur!
